So you’ve decided to declutter your home. Where to start?

Why do you want to do this process? Making a plan now will help motivate you during any future struggles. Think of the KonMari Method™ as a marathon. Each category is like… well, a mini marathon. Realistically, at some point in the journey, you are going to think ‘Why in the world am I doing this to myself?!’ So think it through beforehand: Why in the world ARE you doing this to yourself?!

Most likely, you want to tidy FOR yourself. And your reasons are unique to YOU.

Some Questions to Guide you:

  • What is motivating me to tidy right now?
  • What specific improvements am I hoping for?
  • When I’m at home, how do I want to feel?
  • How will I devote my time in my ideal life?
  • What makes me happy?
  • What are my dreams?
  • What really matters to me?

Don’t hold back! Remember, this is your IDEAL lifestyle, not your “realistic” or “good enough” lifestyle. Let’s pause and acknowledge: Yes, this is hard work already, and no decluttering has even started.
